The campaign brought together about 50 young Cameroonians from different regions of the country to brainstorm on issues surrounding human rights and the UDHR’s applicability in everyday life. The Activity sought to – to raise awareness of what the UDHR means and stress its importance, to broaden access to the declaration to new audiences, including hundreds of illiterates and visually impaired, to encourage stronger respect for human rights and greater freedom among young Cameroonians and to create human rights champions in Cameroon.
Mr. Victor Sinsai – Head of the Promotion and Alerts Unit of the National Commission on Human Rights and Freedoms spoke at length about national and global human rights practice. He also called on the participants to become loyal human rights advocate in their communities and works of life. Thereafter a panel deliberated on the persistent human rights violations around the world and on how young people stand up for human rights in our individual capacities.
