Safe Schools for all

In alignment with our mission to advance the rights of women and girls, the Community Centre for Integrated Development, in collaboration with LUKMEFF through the Canadian Government, has successfully implemented the “Safe Schools for All” project during the reporting period. This endeavor was dedicated to confronting the myriad manifestations of sexual harassment pervasive within educational institutions, thereby fostering an environment conducive to safe and equitable learning opportunities for all. Our investigative report, “The Case of Sexual Harassment in Cameroon,” unequivocally underscored schools as a hot spot for such reprehensible behaviors. Recognizing the profound impact of sexual harassment in impeding progress towards gender equality, it becomes imperative to cultivate a secure educational milieu devoid of gender-based discrimination, particularly in the form of sexual harassment.

We implement the Safe School for All project, through;

Awareness Raising: raising awareness in secondary schools through educational talks and sensitization sessions on sexual harassment.

Training of Guidance Counsellors: We conduct training sessions for guidance counsellors, equipping them with knowledge and skills to address complaints of sexual harassment promptly and effectively.

Use of Media: We engage the community through radio media talks, focusing on defining sexual harassment, identifying its manifestations, and urging individuals from all sectors to commit to creating safe learning environments for women and girls.
